Private Cabo Sunset Cruises at El Arco

The best two hours of light in Baja, and you are not sharing them with 120 strangers on a party barge. A private yacht, a captain who knows exactly where to hold the boat when the sun drops behind El Arco, an open bar and dinner on board.

Sunset slots sell out first. Balloon decor included if you are celebrating.

What a Private Cabo Sunset Cruise Looks Like

You board at the Cabo San Lucas marina about fifteen minutes before departure. The crew already has the ice, the bar and your food on board, and the decor up if you are celebrating.

The boat runs out past the marina mouth and turns down the Pacific side. Land’s End, Neptune’s Finger, the sea lion colony, then Lover’s Beach and Divorce Beach on either side of the point. By the time you reach El Arco the light has gone gold and the captain holds the boat there while everybody takes the photo they came for.

After that the engines come down and the boat sits. Drinks get poured, dinner comes out, the sun drops into the Pacific, and the sky goes orange then pink then deep blue. You come back into the marina with the town lit up along the boardwalk.

Departure moves with the season. Winter departures leave near 4:30pm, summer departures closer to 6:30pm. Your concierge confirms the exact time so you are at El Arco in the right light, not twenty minutes after it.

Why Not Just Book the Big Cabo Sunset Boat

You can, and it is cheaper per head. It is also 80 to 150 people you have never met, a fixed route, a fixed playlist, a queue at the bar and a photographer working the deck trying to sell you prints.

A private charter costs more up front and less than you think once you split it. Six people on the 45 ft Sea Ray for three hours works out close to what a shared cruise charges per person, except the boat is yours, the bar has no queue, the music is your phone, and the captain will hold the boat wherever your group wants to stay longer.

If somebody in the group gets seasick, you turn back. If the light is extraordinary, you stay out in it. That is the whole difference.

Cabo Sunset Cruise FAQ

What time does a Cabo sunset cruise leave?

Departure moves with the season. Between December and February the sun drops around 5:45pm, so we leave the marina near 4:30pm. In June and July sunset is closer to 8:00pm and we leave around 6:30pm. Your concierge confirms the exact time when you book, because leaving at the right minute is the whole point.

Is this a private boat or a shared booze cruise?

Fully private. You book the whole yacht for your group. The large shared sunset boats in Cabo run 80 to 150 strangers with a set route and a set playlist. On ours the only people on board are yours.

How long is a sunset charter?

Three hours is the standard and it is enough. You cruise to El Arco and Lover’s Beach in the good light, anchor for photos, then sit on the water as the sun goes down and come back along the marina. Four hours suits groups who want dinner served on board.

What is included on a sunset cruise?

Captain and crew, fuel, an open bar with ice and mixers, lunch or dinner depending on the departure, snorkel gear and water toys, sound system, marina fees and port taxes. Balloon decor is included as a gift if you are celebrating something.

Can we see the Arch at sunset?

Yes, and it is the reason to go. The route runs down the Pacific side past Land’s End and Neptune’s Finger, turns at El Arco and holds there while the light is best. The captain positions the boat so the sun sits behind the rock for photos.

How far ahead should we book a sunset cruise?

Sunset slots sell out before every other time of day. Two to four weeks in normal season, six to eight weeks over Christmas, New Year, spring break and Easter. Same day slots do open from cancellations, so it is always worth asking.
